We spent a week here and the overall experience was between average and very good. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, cleaned everyday. Breakfast buffet was of a high standard with a lot of choices. Choose your time carefully as it does get very busy. All the staff we encountered where very friendly and helpful. Reception area at times looks a mess. Location is good, Dongzhimen subway and Airport express station approx 15 minute walk, as is Sanlitun (unfortunately bar st has been closed down) but still plenty of other options for eating and drinking. The only real negative we had was the fact we couldn't control the aircon, this is a policy I have come across in a number of hotels in North China during the cooler months. With the window open and a temporary fan running the room temp was above 25C

The hotel was quite good. Better than most holiday inn express I have stayed in. As expected the rooms are smaller than those outside Beijing but we still were able to get a sofa bed for our young son to sleep on. The staff at breakfast were polite and checkin staff also but most helpful and friendly were the daytime housekeeping staff who would say hello and bye bye as they saw us come in and out. We even got a “have a safe trip” from her on the morning we were checking out. The only problem with the room was that, despite Beijing regulations and signs everywhere in the hotel, someone in the hotel in an adjacent room was clearly smoking in the evening and early morning. We were all coughing all night every night from the smoke. It was clearly coming through the ventilation and we weren’t even using the system. Although we didn’t raise this issue with staff it is clearly a problem that needs to be addressed.

This Holiday Inn Express offers the standard HIE room. The room was clean, internet was fast and reliable. Two things stand out. First, the location is excellent with easy access to two subway stations on line 2, Dongzhimen and Dongsi Shitao. Both are about 1 km away from the hotel. If you are in town to see the attractions, line 2 is the line you want! When I visited, the Dongsi Shitiao station was under refurbishment. Dongzhimen station Exit B is the most convenient in relation to this hotel. If you don’t feel like walking, you can always take a bike or a DIDI. Also, about 1km away from the hotel there is Sanlitun; lots of bars, restaurants and shopping @ TaiKooLi Sanlitun. To help with navigation, unless you speak Chinese and can use one of the local apps, consider using Apple Maps for navigation – works OK. Keep in mind that Google Maps and other Google products do not work in China most of the time. The second thing worth mentioning is the breakfast, which offers a wide range of options both Chinese and Western. If you are used to the typical HIE breakfast in North America or Europe, make no mistake this is a welcomed and refreshing change – Enjoy! The cost was normal for a HIE and was good value. I would strongly recommend this property and will return when in Beijing.

Large room with friendly staff at restaurant and front desk/reception. Confortable bed with large bathroom. Big and variaty breakfast, as salad, fruts, breads, hot meal, soup, etc. Many amenities, weigth measeure and towels. Charmy and well decorated. Excellent hotel. I recommend.

Bed was deliciously comfortable with oversized pillows! Fresh fruit and a welcome gift “sampler” of women’s cosmetics! A wonderful surprise! Face mask, eye mask and face cream with essential oil’s!
